On 6 April 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization made an announcement that they will restrict the discharge of wash water in the territorial waters of the country, based on its marine pollution regulation.

The dispute between Gabon and Equatorial Guinea about Mbanie Island brought before the International Court of Justice
Proceedings brought on 5 March 2021 by way of a special agreement between the Gabonese Republic and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea (Gabon/Equatorial Guinea), which was signed in 2016 and entered into force in March 2020.

*REMINDER* - Less than two months to go until South Korean local ECAs enter into Phase I commencement. This means that all vessels must switch to fuel oil with 0.1% sulphur content while calling (berthing or at anchor) the following ports:
- Incheon
- Pyeongtaek-Dangjin
- Yeosu-Gwangyang
- Busan
- Ulsan
The regulation takes effect on September 01 2020. Switchover times shall occur within 1-hour of arrival and after 1-hour from departure. Restrictions extend to entire ECA zones from 01 January 2022 - stay tuned for updates. All related info accessible in EMHS Hub database.

Maritime boundary updates to June 2020 now live on the hub! Includes refined baselines and remapping of territorial claims in South East Asia as per U.N. recognized treaties. Nautical charts may take years for updates on such boundaries, if they are even accurately displayed at all. Maintain accuracy and stay up to date with the EMHS Maritime Boundary Data set.

Port of Gavle, Sweden officially confirms the ban on scrubber (EGCS) washwater within port limits. Nearly 90 EGCS zones now included!

St. Lawrence Seaway garbage incinerator prohibited zones added.
Extending more than 2000 miles the St. Lawrence Seaway connects the Great Lakes with the Atlantic Ocean and the rest of the world. The Seaway carries more than 200 million tonnes of cargo a year and is jointly managed by Canada and the United States. Many major cities line the seaway in close proximity to the many vessels transiting by. With such high populations nearby, it is of direct health importance to protect the air quality and reduce emission pollution in the area.
